 Review - Don Broco - Wembley’s OVO Arena - 5th December

On Friday the 5th of December, Don Broco took to the stage at Wembley’s OVO Arena, which was the bands first time headlining this venue and one of their biggest shows to date!

With a stacked supporting lineup including Magnolia Park, Yonaka and State Champs, the Bedford boys embraced the stage and came on to one of four of their newest singles Cellophane.

This was the perfect opener and start of a very high energy evening. The crowd cheered as the band went straight into fan favourite Come Out To LA from their third studio album Technology.

The show production was pretty extravagant on the night with vibrant visuals playing on the stage screens throughout the set. Especially for their most recent single Euphoria which had the chorus lyrics and some memorable video clips up on the screens, helping out fans who hadn’t memorised the lyrics just yet.

The stage presence from all four members of the band was great as well, with lead singer Rob even bringing out the ‘Rob Stomp’ for Pretty, another energetic fan favourite which gets the crowd jumping and singing along.

The band even teased the audience with a snippet of an unreleased song True Believers, which sounds like it will fit in well with their new era. It was also confirmed that their 5th album should be coming out early next year, and I’m very excited to hear this song in full!

Next up was the calmer part of the evening which gave everyone a chance for a breather. Rob and Simon found their way into the seated area of Wembley OVO and serenaded the audience with an acoustic version of You Wanna Know, which was lovely. This was followed by Matt performing a snippet of Anaheim, which I hadn’t heard live before and would love to hear the whole song in full one day! Theresa from Yonaka then entered the stage to perform an acoustic version of Further with the lads as well, before ending the calmer part of the set with Bruce Willis, which instantly bought the energy back up. Yippee Ki Yay!

Sadly nearing the end of their set now, and in the encore, T-Shirt Song was played, where everyone in the audience swung a piece of clothing in the air, which has turned into tradition now at every Don Broco show.

The show flew by quickly, and it was great to see such a mix of songs from most of their albums performed, but it would have been even better if one or two singles from their first album had been added to the setlist too! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Don Broco now, and it certainly won’t be the last. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for them!
