So tonight Norwich saw a most epic collab of bands at Voodoo Daddy's. Norwich's own Birdwitch, bringing their 'Dream Violence' to the stage. Another Norfolk born band, Koba, Metal to the Masses winners, this instrumental 4 piece powerhouse are taking the metal scene by storm.
The Grey hail from Cambridge, this alluring force, is an instrumental post metal with guest vocals.
All bring the incredible deep feeling that music can take us to and perfectly flow together.
Starting the night is the haunting Birdwitch. The raw emotion behind the music is clear. They also have a lot of fun, bassist, Tim, playing his last show with Birdwitch, clearly really enjoyed it.
Throwing himself into the crowd literally.
Vocalist Raya, lets it all out, having a cathartic experience. Moving from beautiful harmonies to heart wrenching gutturals.
The perfect balance of darkness and release, incredible band to begin this night.
Koba owned the stage, such a powerful instrumental band. The musical skill of each member demonstrated by the way they can convey emotional through sound to get you covered in goosebumps.
Such beautiful brutality, their new song really got the crowd moving. With a pit opening up as people couldn't contain the energy forming.
Every time I see Koba I appreciate them more and more and you can see the crowd does too.
Headlining this perfect collaboration of acts is The Grey, continuing the emotive instrumental hard sounds of the evening. This time with perfectly placed guest vocals from Raya of Birdwitch.
They have such energy and presence. The guitarist giving it his all emotionally and physically. The bassist's precision with the pedals keeps the flow going along with the drummers skill (and amazing cat vest I have to say).
Finishing the set a brings such raw emotion as they dedicate this to all those struggling in this difficult world.
The arts are so important, it is vital we continue to support our local music scene. Nights like this remind us how much we all need it.
Live music brings us together and this night reminds us of this. It's a time to escape, a time to feel, all bought together for the same purpose, to be.
Don't forget to support these amazing acts and check out where they are playing next:
