Review - The Levellers - The Meffs at The LCR - June 4th 2026

Thursday night and Norwich is ready to welcome the institution that is The Levellers. This folk rock band from East Sussex has been entertaining us for decades. Shout out to my friend, Bec, for introducing me to them. They helped us through many a work day. Their music has that incredible uplifting and progressive quality to make any day better.
Supporting these legends is britpunk rising stars, The Meffs. This duo formed in Essex and are going from strength to strength.
They build the atmosphere by opening with a politically charged intro going into 'Business'.
Then the energy heightens with 'Stamp it Out', as the crowd singing back to this catchy, high energy track.
'Disorder (Wake up), brings a bassier tone and dark riffs.
Really getting the room moving is a fantastic cover of Prodigy's 'Breathe'.
We are also treated to one of my favourite songs, written at the height of Tory Britain, excellent political commentary, 'Broken Britain, Broken Brains'.
The are the perfect support act to get the energy high ready for The Levellers.
The Levellers come on stage to roars of applause as they begin with 'The Fear', then into 'Hope Street', the packed out LCR is filled with movement, joy and applause.
The high energy of 'The Game' really gets the crowd moving.
The epicness of largest didgeridoo I've ever seen, enters the stage as we are treated to an amazing performance of 'The Boatman'
The atmosphere is electrifying and I have goosebumps as we go into 'One Way'. It so wonderful as everyone sings along throughout the night and it has a wonderful community feel.
Slowing it down for the ballad tones of 'Another Man's Cause', before the everyone is jump about again to the up-beat 'Carry me'.
Ending the set we have the amazingly catchy song they are best known 'Beautiful Day'.
For the encore we went into an amazing drum solo before 'Far from Home'.
Wow, what a fantastic night, high energy, motivational, strong sense of community, left feeling inspired.
