Review: Alternation team
Circa Waves brought their tour to the Nick Rayns LCR on Wednesday and were keen to showcase some new songs from Recent release Death and Love, pt 1
First up however were Manchester's Corella, very similar to the Courteeners and with a really well put together live mix. The 30 minute set included the highlight, Lady Messiah, as the band jokingly forgot what day it was.
A new song from the Live From New Century EP suggested a slight change in sound to the bands earlier catalogue of hits, with Drifting, well worth checking out.
The band finished just as they warming up with Barcelona Girl, and we hope they come back for a headline show.
It's always good to have a second headliner and Peace didn't disappoint, although the set was missing Lost on Me, the bands break out hit, they showed their Diversity with California Daze featuring on the set list along with Bloodshake, a tune to really dance to!
Of course Headliners Circa Waves, with over a decade of music under their belts, were able to pull from their vast catalogue. Lead singer, Kieran Shudalll, apologised early in the set as he was worried he was losing the voice-, however this appeared to be no problem as the band pushed through all 19 songs.
4 songs featured from the new album,
Stuck in your teeth was mid set and T-shirt weather rounded out the night, making us wish for those summer nights, but not before San Francisca, a whimsical look at a better life.
With the album being titled "Part 1" I cant wait for part 2 and hope it isnt long before we see all 3 of these bands headline stages again!
