I'm very proud to be able to review the upcoming album for seven Blood.
A strong start to this debut album, heavy melodic guitars, followed by beautiful melodic vocals. Inspirational feel about moving on from what has held you back as 'This House is not my home anymore'.
Moving into 'Cold Eyes', emotive start, 'misery loves company but I will depart'. For me the song describes escaping a narcissist. There are strong back up screaming vocals adding to the need to get out. Heavy drum beats and riffs echo the emotions of the lyrics.
'No Breakout' begins with very heavy riffs, harmony of vocals and guitar. Good to hear the vocalist screaming here too to add to the feel of this track, needing to get free - 'Suffocating in my dreams, can somebody save me?'. Great guitar solo with screams, adding to the build up of this song.
A wonderfully groovy beginning to 'Monsters', this song really catches you. The harmony of bass, guitar and drums brings the 'I'm Running away from myself. Can't stop the pain by myself.' into your mind. Again perfect touch of back up vocals in this track too.
A more chilled melody, making the chorus of 'Hourglass' really hit. The strong combination of clean and screaming vocals working so well, 'Only one last chance before I say goodbye'. This track is really hard-hitting and emotive.
Drumming focused and uncompromising, 'Killing from the inside' is track thinking about our viewed selves by others and our own worth, resonates with the difficulties of living in a world of social media.
'To the Unknown' has mysterious synth guitar beginnings, into heavy riffs and drumming beats with lyrics of 'I Surrender to the unknown', a roller-coaster of a song. It's like being taken on a journey feeling lost but then accepting that fate and seeing where life takes you, the mystery. Personally I love this track and found myself sing along on first listen.
Electronic sounding beginning into heavy drum beats and bass notes, with a melodic vocal chorus. 'Not Your Misery' is a reminder that another person cannot be your scapegoat - 'I am not your misery'.
Beautifully inspired 'As we Bleed', the vocals and instruments in harmony, really shows how well this new band is tuned to each other. Lyrically it's very interesting 'As we bleed we hold on to our crown', 'I am getting lost in this crowded place, it's never enough. I vanish into the haze when times get tough'. Feels like being lost a crowd but holding on to what we have achieved.
Slower track beginning the end of this album, with heavy hitting chorus 'Forget the memories, Forget you and be strangers again', a reminder of how anyone can disappear from your life like you didn't know them.
The final track, starts with beautiful vocals, very emotive, 'I burn soo bright when I fall from sky' heavy riffs and screaming to end that no matter what you will shine!
Personally I loved this album, I feel Blood Seven has elements of Lacuna Coil and The Birthday Massacre. Tight and strong sound and emotive lyrics are a perfect combinations. I have a feeling this band will go far, I can't wait to see them live.
