Stereophoncis Review -Lighting up Finsbury park!

The Stereophonics are a band that could headline any festival anywhere in the world, On this performance they surely will be one of the big names on the big stages for many years to come.

They've been touring the "no hit left behind" show throughout 2025, with appearances at the isle of Wight festival and throughout Europe thrown in for good measure.

The day opened with support act Finn Forster, Hailing from Middlesborough in the North of England, and with a full band, some great male/female harmonies in the vocals and a 35 minute set, which whilst enjoyable, was missing something to get the early arrivals into the mood. However, new release "Broken Game" was a good addition to the set list, you can catch Finn at Latitude Festival later this summer.

Next up were Blossoms, Again from the North of England, Stockport.

Having recently released album number 5 "Gary" in September of last year, there's always a great selection of songs from the lads who like to inject humor and fun into their lyrics and set - Front man Tom looking top notch in an almost 1970's style outfit.

Starting with "Your girlfriend" a song inspired by a reddit thread about someone in love with their friends girlfriend,  it was 12 songs of singalong and dancing from one of the most fun bands you'll see.

Songs from all the previous albums featured, and despite the very hot conditions the growing crowd was enjoying the offering,  blossoms are a band who never seem to stop, and the balance between touring and new music is something to commend them for. 12 songs in total, with a particular highlight being "Is there a reason why (you never returned my calls)", synth heavy main hook echoing across the venue.

We got chatting to a chap in a food queue who told us the video to Your Girlfriend was shot in Morcambe, on a cold winters day, His grandad owns an arcade and can be seen at 1 Minute 20, fixing a sign, on the roof! we've checked, he's there!

Loads more shows and dates lined up for the band this summer, head over to https://www.instagram.com/blossomsband/ to learn more.

Finally, onto the main act, we said before that the Stereophonics could grace a main stage anywhere in the world and on evidence of this 2 hour set they will certainly do so.

Kelly Jones is ever the rockstar, coming on stage to greet the crowd in classic Aviator's, scarf and jacket, the band waste no time with  "Vegas two times", a really good live song, setting the standard for whats ahead, I wanna Get Lost and Have a Nice day, from from 2001's "just enough Education to perform" is already a walk through how the bands sound has changed, yet retained its unique sound thanks to Jone's Voice through the decades.

With such a vast back catalogue of hits it would have been easy for a song to be missed off the set or omitted but this was a proper Phonics gig, and as the show's title "no hit left behind" really lived up to its name,

A strong sound and good mix throughout, clear audio from all sides of the venue too, a word should also be given to the lighting engineers who pulled off some stunning on stage effects.
