Review - Joe & Mary at The Mad Cat - Easter Sunday 2026
Photography and words by BeckyKat Kaptures
Tonight I covered my first gig at The Mad Cat, this is a personal favourite venue of mine as its my local. It's expanding more into live music which is awesome for the local music scene. Being a local bar not a big venue it's suited to the more acoustic set, with a wonderful atmosphere. This is one to look out for with lots of great events coming up, tonight was great fun.
So this evening we had an Easter treat, we had Joe & Mary, giving us a wonderful mix of Americana, country-blues and hilarity.
They are a delightful couple who are lovely on and off stage. They make us laugh all night with humour with each song. They have incredible musical talent playing covers and originals. From classics by Hank Williams, Patsy Clin, John Prine and Steve Earle.
My standouts were a wonderful singalong to Nancy Sintara's 'These Boots were Made for Walking'.
Paul Thorn's 'Joanie: The Jehovah Witness Stripper' and one I enjoyed singing along to, Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'.
The crowd didn't want the night to end demanding more. But sadly all good things must come to an end. But we know Joe & Mary will be welcomed back again.
