Review - Calva Louise - Knife Bride at The Waterfront Norwich - 20th April 2026

So we're in for a heavy Monday night tonight. What a way to start the week.

Opening the night for us we have Knife Bride, nu-gothika metalcore from Brighton. They are wonderfully uniquely romantic but heavy in their delivery.  And do they deliver!

The crowd was already buzzing for Knife Bride and they provided tune after tune, people were pushing more and more to the front. 

Such high energy, the band plays to a room who were ready to get going, which is impressive for a Monday evening. Thrilled for each song, cheering for more. 

The vocalist and backing vocals, both hold strong, working well together with a powerful rhythm and beat driving the sound forward.  Everyone was singing to the last track.

Headlining tonight is Calva Louise, rock band formed in London but from all over the world.  Everyone is so hyped.  Jess and Alizon, multi instrumentalists and vocals, so highly skilled and synched and varied vocals, absolutely incredible watching them change instruments seamlessly.  Ben on drums, a force to be reckoned with keeping the powerful songs together with such strength in rhythm.

The crowd went from strength to strength, singing along, mass movement and cheering.  

'Hate in Me' really got people moving (and is one of my favourites).

During the show Jess told the story of the 3 band members meeting, originally from 3 parts of the world, Venezuela, France and New Zealand, and how it is so great to have all their experiences come together.

I have to also mention the incredible stage set up.  Such good use of visuals, as well as ivy and large symbolic lighting, there were 6 monitors which synced up with lyrics/ music videos.  Made such such great use of the stage and the gig into a great show.

Well made mine and everyone here's Monday nights, so pleased to have finally seen Calva Louise, highly recommended.  Can't wait until next time.
