Interview for Wild Paths - Daisy Cameron

Daisy Cameron Interview Ready for Upcoming Wild Paths Festival 2025.

Words by BeckyKat Kaptures and Daisy Cameron

This time in our series of Wild Paths interviews, the lovely, Daisy Cameron.

Thank you so much for doing this interview with us, Daisy.  Is this your first time in Norwich?

No it isn’t actually; I was born and raised in West Yorkshire but have family in Norfolk so have
visited many times. It’s a beautiful city and I can’t wait to return! My dad is also a huge Norwich City fan so he’s very happy about the gig!

I fully understand, I have many a Norwich City fan in the family.  Bet he is excited to be back.

I see music has been your passion for a long time, what inspired this journey for you?

I started learning instruments from a very young age and never really looked back. I’ve always
been so passionate about music but playing in local bands and orchestras as a teenager really
ignited a fire in me!

How would you describe your music, and what/who influences you?

Influenced by artists such as Lianne La Havas, Yebba and Stevie Wonder I’d say I’ve formed a
sound derived from soul, jazz and alternative genres. I’m heavily influenced by songwriters who are upfront and unapologetic in their story telling, and who through pushing boundaries create a unique musical world which belongs only to them.

What has been your most exciting musical achievement to date?

My most exciting achievement so far has to be playing my original music at the Royal Albert Hall in 2023 at the Music For Youth Proms. It was an utterly magical experience and one that I never even dreamed of having. Hopefully I’ll get to return in the not so distant future!

That's so amazing, I can imagine that being incredibly special.

Do you have anything you like to do before or after a show?

I love to just hang out with my band before a show. They’re my band but also my best friends so nothing calms me down more than spending time with them! Oh and maybe a vocal warm-up and pint too if I have time.

That sounds so perfect.

What are you most looking forward to about Wild Paths?

I’m really looking forward to playing in a new city at some new venues! I’m particularly excited
about my second set as it’s just going to be me and my guitarists. I love playing with my full band but it’s nice to switch it up and do something stripped back; it forces you to play songs in a different way, almost from a different perspective and I really like that.

How wonderful to have the opportunity have such variety, you have such talent.

What are your future goals? More festivals, recordings, any specific dreams?

I’ve just moved to London so I’m hoping to do some London shows soon! And I would love to do some more festivals in the summertime. I just released my debut EP this year so more chances to play that live and reach more audiences would be immense.

You can see Daisy Cameron at Wild Paths at Minstrel Rooms at the Maids Head on Thursday 16th October at 6:35pm
